POUR TROIS SOUS - No.2
POUR TROIS SOUS - No.2 was shown in laundry works – Formen des Erhaltens at City Reinigung in Düsseldorf.
The main part of the work was hand-crocheted from polyester yarn — an everyday cleaning material commonly used in bathrooms and kitchens. Polyester once represented a modern, fashionable and colorful way of life. Today, it has become cheap, even disposable.
Housework is often overlooked and undervalued, much of it worth just a few pennies. There is a striking gap between the amount of work involved and the value given to it.
For this piece, I chose the form of a classic ready-to-wear jacket and used real euro coins as buttons. I also designed its label: POUR TROIS SOUS / 100% POLYESTER — roughly, “for a few pennies.”
